This month will see the implementation of Virtual Reality cameras in the field during observations. I hope to capture VR (3D, 360 degree viewable) video of the long tailed macaques in North Jakarta. I will create and upload the VR clips to YouTube, and post links here for viewing.
I'm excited to start integrating VR into the study. It may expand the ability to find greater data and details from observations by taking into account the entire environment, holistically.
Additionally, VR increases accessibility for hearing impairs and Deaf individuals, like myself. The visual experience of watching the monkeys in virtual reality is second only to actually being with me, in the field.
I can't wait to see what happens!
