Peace among primates

Observation Day 8

I'm noticing some recurrent themes while observing the macaques. Mainly, it's the monkeys' ambivalence towards people who are in the mangrove habitat with a purpose (other than sightseeing or a family outing). The monkeys are calm and serene around the fishermen (Of which, there are usually 10 - 15). They don't harass the fishermen, and the fishermen don't pay much attention to the monkeys. The same is true between the park maintenance workers and the troop of macaques.

Today, I observed no human/monkey conflicts, nor did I see scavenging behaviors from the troop. I witnessed a lot of foraging and some playing among the younger juveniles and infants.
